Mission Maxi dress

The heat is still on and I don’t know how everyone else do some sewing these days. The other day, I was browsing my pattern stash longingly when this pattern caught my attention. It was Mission Maxi sewing pattern by Jamie Christina that I got as part of my Spring Top prize last year. The pattern is quite simple, a maxi-length jersey dress with only 2 pattern pieces for view A and B. I figured this would be the perfect dress to make in this weather. I’ve seen this pattern made around the sewing blogs before -check out these pretty […]

nani IRO lingerie set

Unfortunately, no progress at all on my dresses sewing projects. I got sick for a week and then summer came in full force, melting my sewing mojo with the heat. So I’ve been spending the last few days lounging around in front of the fan. How do you get your sewing mojo back after a period of stagnation? Anyway, I desperately want to sew something yesterday but cutting a dress seemed too much of work to do. In times like this, I always turn to sewing lingerie. It’s small, quick, with almost always cute result. Perfect for curing my sewing […]

A wedding in Saturday

Sidra’s father got married last weekend. We weren’t able to come due to several reasons, but Sidra’s father came up with this wonderful idea to ask someone (which is his brother) to hold an iPhone during the wedding ceremony so the three of us could view it live via Skype! Yay for technology! Several minutes before the ceremony, Sidra came to me and asked for the outfit that he wore on my wedding. Well, of course he couldn’t wear them again, it was 4 years ago! Fortunately he didn’t mind wearing something else. He was quite excited to see […]

Planning projects

When I’m not sewing, I waste spend my time daydreaming about my next sewing projects. I have these flowy silk fabrics in my stash for a while and have been thinking what I would make them into. One is black with colorful bird print, the same print as this Marc Jacobs wrap dress, and the other has pinkish nude base with black heart print, the same as this Juicy Couture dress. I didn’t want to make copies of those dresses though, instead I’m planning to use Vogue 8787 for the bird print and Vogue 1288 for the heart print, both are Vogue 2012 […]

Cambie dress in Sakura

My most favorite dress at the moment! The pattern is Cambie by Tasia at Sewaholic. This pattern confirmed my love for Tasia’s patterns, they don’t require too much alteration and the results are always flattering on me. I made the dress in size 2, and my pattern alterations are: shortened the bodice 3 cm. swayback alteration shortened the skirt changed the sweetheart neckline to straight neckline, following Tasia’s tutorial here. I also tucked the center front a bit to prevent gaping neckline as most of my dresses tend to have this problem. The fabric is medium-weight kimono fabric by […]

Banksia top and Iris shorts

Actually I’ve finished this top sometime ago before we moved to this house, but haven’t got time to take proper pictures. I’m still looking for a nice spot for taking pictures, I kinda miss the blank wall in my old apartment. The pattern is Banksia top by Megan Nielsen. From the pattern envelope: “Semi fitted with button up placket front, and large peter pan collar it also features elbow length sleeves and shaping darts at the bust line. Pattern includes two different placket finishes based on skill level.”  It was my first time sewing a button placket like this, […]

Red lace set

A little sewing project that I did yesterday, my instant gratification! Of course it was a new set of bra and two panties. This time I didn’t used my usual Pin-Up Girls pattern, but Merckwaerdigh PBH30. The pattern is for push-up underwired bra, bustier, bodysuit, and thong bodysuit. I’ve used the pattern before to make this blue bodysuit. I made a little alteration to the bridge between the bra cups. They were a bit too wide on me so I simply shaved both sides a little bit to narrow it. The fabric was 4 m of red stretch lace from Merckwaerdigh […]

Create Your Style with Swarovski Elements Magazine: review and giveaway – CLOSED

About a month ago, I was contacted by Swarovski to check out their magazine: Create Your Style, Issue Sound. The magazine is of course about the famous Swarovski crystals, but that is not all. As the name of the magazine suggests, the magazine offers a lot of inspirations and how-to to create your own style using Swarovski crystals. There is a lot of tutorials with step-by-step pictures to make accessories like pendant, earrings, necklaces, bangles, rings, and bags.My favorite is the Unchained Necklace! I love the array of chains in muted color palette. Another one is the Snakebites Bangle which […]

Knee-length linen pants

Thank you for all the sweet comments on my last post! I’ve been really enjoying the house and spending time doing things around the house that I no longer spent lots of my time in front of the computer or sewing machine. It’s quite a rare thing in my life! I’m not quite sure if that is a good thing for this blog though (-_-). But I slowly got into my sewing mood and finished my first project in the new house! Sidra had been asking for a pair of knee-length pants now that the weather is getting warmer. The […]
