Kimono obi fabric caps

Someone sent me a link to a tutorial video on Youtube. And once on Youtube, you know that you’ve got to click all those related videos that look interesting on the side bar. Two hours later I came across a tutorial video on Proper Fit Clothing co. channel for making caps. The tutorial was very good! It was very interesting to see all kinds of machines used to sew a single cap. The person said that the cap can also be sewed on regular sewing machine though so I got curious about it. The cap  pattern is available for USD1.5 on a […]

Dog down jacket

We planned to go to Kawaguchiko in the first weekend of 2016. Since Fuwawa doesn’t like cold weather, I made her a down jacket to wear while she’s there. The material is scavenged from Sidra’s overgrown down jacket. He’s growing fast, leaving lots of clothing material for Fuwawa and our foster dogs! This red quilted fabric is actually a removable lining. The outer jacket already has lots of mending stitches so I didn’t use it. The red jacket has black lining that I also used for Fuwawa’s jacket. The upper part of the back lining is flannel for added warmth. Naturally I have to […]

T-shirt refashions

Fuwawa usually wears clothes in colder months, so it is time for another dogwear fashion! I seem to always get comments regarding her need for clothes, so yes, Fuwawa is a dog and she does need clothes. Although long, the fur of Chinese Crested Powder Puff are thin and they get cold easily. She is also quite old -nine years old- and not very healthy, so keeping her warm is very important. In cold season, she also needs hot water bottle, blanket, heated bed, and warm drinking water so she won’t get sick     Sidra has lots of outgrown T-shirts and they are such good […]

Bellatrix blazer – Papercut patterns

You might have seen this blazer several times if you follow me in Instagram. This is my new favorite jacket, the Bellatrix blazer by Papercut Patterns! Actually I always thought that I was not a blazer person. Maybe a bomber jacket or coat person, but not a blazer one. However, after seeing so many different version of this blazer around the blogosphere, I got the urge to at least try making one. I didn’t want to buy a whole supply for something that I might not wear daily though, so I turned to my store bought clothes to find something.   It […]

Boy tee and dog hoodie

So I found this long sleeved t-shirt with rather ridiculous cowl neckline in the men’s section of a thrift shop. My first thought was: wow, look at all those fabric! The color is actually light grey with black printed pattern, it is rather thick jersey in good quality. I bought the item for about USD5. My favorite pattern for making Sidra’s long-sleeved T-shirt is Biscuit by Tamanegi-Kobo, a Japanese pattern store. The sleeves are very interesting, they look like regular sleeves from the front and raglan sleeves from the back. I’ve used this pattern several times here, here, and here. […]

Duff’s clothes

Dog clothes are probably not something necessary, except maybe in cold weather. But I’ve got to admit that dog in clothes are probably one of the cutest things in the world. At first, I just tried my hand on recycling Sidra’s old T-shirts into Duff’s t-shirt using this free pattern from Free Dog Clothes Pattern blog. They were finished crudely so I won’t post them here. But then I found this: MillaMilla, an online dog PDF pattern shop that features the cutest and most adorable dogwear, and suddenly I have a new hobby. MillaMilla offers several free pattern that can […]

Lace Racerback Bralette

This one is a bit different than my usual bra. No underwires, no openings, no lining, just some stretch lace fabric and elastics! The pattern is Merckwaerdigh BHS10 pattern that I got sometime ago. It contains a mix of 5 different bras, including soft bra, racerback bra, soft lace bra, underwired bra, and a padded bra. It is wonderful that you get 5 bra in one! I made the soft bra on the upper right, but changed the back to the racerback one. It is basically a bralette as the bra doesn’t offer much support. I usually wear store-bought soft […]

nani IRO lingerie set

Unfortunately, no progress at all on my dresses sewing projects. I got sick for a week and then summer came in full force, melting my sewing mojo with the heat. So I’ve been spending the last few days lounging around in front of the fan. How do you get your sewing mojo back after a period of stagnation? Anyway, I desperately want to sew something yesterday but cutting a dress seemed too much of work to do. In times like this, I always turn to sewing lingerie. It’s small, quick, with almost always cute result. Perfect for curing my sewing […]

Sleeveles T-shirts

Next for KCWC 2012, four sleeveless T-shirts for Sidra! I bought most of Sidra’s t-shirts from Threadless, unfortunately they don’t have sleeveless ones for kids. As the weather is getting warmer, Sidra has started wearing sleeveless so I made these. They are recycled from adult-sized T-shirts that I got from the thrift store. The pattern is from Japanese pattern book,  シンプル&ちょこっとデザイン おんなの子服おとこの子服, the same book as the one I’ve used for Sidra’s pants. I spent one day for cutting the pieces and arranging them. The green and purple T-shirts were kinda small but the brown and black ones were quite […]

Recycled Cargo pants

Sidra seems to be in constant needs of new pants. Several pants got short in what feels like overnight, the others got ripped and torn. Apparently it is rough out there playing with the boys. I told Sidra that I was going to make him a new pair of pants and asked if he had any special request. He immediately said that he wanted his pants in camouflage print. I’m not too crazy about camo print, but I guess eveybody has their own preference. Not wanting to shell some cash on a fresh batch of camo print fabric, I […]
