Hello! Several people have expressed interest in Full of Patterns, so I asked them if it is possible for people living outside Japan to purchase the PDF patterns. They replied immediately and sent these step-by-step screen captions with English explanations (in red) on how to order. It might be a bit of a hassle, but their patterns are good so it is worth to try. I have made several patterns from them that you can see here. Full of Patterns sells patterns in paper and PDF version but you can only purchase the PDF patterns from outside Japan. They seem to focus more […]

Selvedge men’s jeans – Full of Patterns 07
Sometime ago I posted that I wanted to make a pair of selvedge jeans for my husband and have started making the muslin. It turned out that ‘sometime ago’ meant 8 months ago! Yikes. The good news is, the jeans are finally finished now! And actually it only took me two days to make them, just in time for my husband’s 44th birthday! The pattern is Men’s jeans FOP-07 by Full of Patterns, a Japanese pattern shop. The site is completely in Japanese but it wasn’t a big problem as I always use Google translate extension on Chrome to browse and even order things […]
Striped tee and chino pants
One day Sidra declared that he no longer wanted to wear ‘T-shirts with faces on it’, which means most of his T-shirts. He said that these T-shirts are too childish which doesn’t make sense because he is a child after all! But anyway he’s in constant need of new clothing as he keeps growing, so I made him some new ones. The first one is a striped T-shirt with little pocket made with leftover fabric from my striped Jorna dress, the pattern is from one of my Japanese pattern book. He quite likes it so I bought some cotton jersey with these interesting stripes. I’ve […]
Dog fur bolero
Why would a dog needs a fur bolero, considering that she already has fur all over? The answer is not important though! I think Fuwawa looks fabulous in it, don’t you agree? The pattern is dog bolero from MillaMilla, my favorite Japanese pattern shop for dogwear pattern. They sell PDF pattern in their Japanese site, English site, and Etsy store, I bought mine in the Japanase site. In MillaMilla store, you can buy pattern only without the instructions. I chose this option as the bolero is quite simple. The fabric is faux fleece fur in shocking pink with floral lining, […]
Selvedge men’s jeans: in progress
I’m making another jeans for my husband! This time I want to make him a pair of selvedge jeans using jeans kit that I bought from Citron Jeans. Selvedge jeans has straight outseam that utilizes the selvedge of the fabric. The denim fabric used usually has contrasting color of warp on both edges. I have made him several jeans for my husband before using Pumila pattern and Kwik Sew 3504. Unfortunately they are not for selvedge jeans. Maybe I should take the opportunity to learn more about drafting a proper selvedge jeans but hey there’s an easier way! So I ordered this jeans pattern from […]
Dog onesies
Winter is not the most enjoyable time for a 7 years old Chinese Crested and 14 years old Chihuahua, I made them these onesies so they can do their daily activities comfortably. When I say daily activities, it means sleeping all day on their heated dog bed. The pattern is Dog coverall by MillaMilla, size M for Fuwawa and size S for Okowa. The onesies have open tummy and backside elastic around the tummy so they will stay in place. The pattern actually has waist seam so different fabric can be used to make it looks like separate top and pants. […]
Boy’s cape
When Sidra was still in kindergarten, I made him a cute wool cape with faux fur lining for winter. He was very happy wearing it and enjoyed running around pretending he was a super-something. As years went by, he has outgrown the cape and it found a new owner (that might have outgrown the cape by now). Although the cape has long gone, Sidra often talks about it fondly and has been asking me to make him another. Well, a cape might look cute on a toddler, but it might not be the best clothing choice for an active fifth grader. He […]
Dog raincoat
I made a raincoat for Fuwawa so she can still have her walk in rainy days. She’s not too thrilled having to wear a raincoat but at least she can still enjoy her favorite time of the day. The fabric is raincoat fabric with colorful pattern that I bought in Okadaya, Shinjuku. The pattern is, again, from MillaMilla. I really love all the dogwear pattern from this store! This time I bought the PDF pattern from their etsy shop, so it is in English. The raincoat has hood that can be hidden in the wide collar and a cute little cape. […]
Boy tee and dog hoodie
So I found this long sleeved t-shirt with rather ridiculous cowl neckline in the men’s section of a thrift shop. My first thought was: wow, look at all those fabric! The color is actually light grey with black printed pattern, it is rather thick jersey in good quality. I bought the item for about USD5. My favorite pattern for making Sidra’s long-sleeved T-shirt is Biscuit by Tamanegi-Kobo, a Japanese pattern store. The sleeves are very interesting, they look like regular sleeves from the front and raglan sleeves from the back. I’ve used this pattern several times here, here, and here. […]
Garnet tops (+ dog tees)
As you might know, my wardrobe is mostly consisted of dresses, which is something that I had wanted to fix since the beginning of the year. But there were always some pretty dress patterns that distracted my attention and I kept making more dresses. A couple of months ago I bought these pair of denim from Modcloth on a whim. Note to self: there are certain times each month when I have to avoid online shopping site. Anyway, it is a high-waisted skinnies in stretchy materials and was the most loved item in denim section so I clicked and bought […]
