Culottes and tops

I haven’t sewed for quite a while because it was too cold so I’m happy that it is now getting warmer everyday! This cropped top is part of Burdastyle February Flagship kit that contains about 40 patterns. I printed the pattern at 92% as I usually do for Burdastyle patterns, not realizing that it is already a petite pattern! So I have to add the length back to the pattern. I should have used size 17 in normal printed size (100%). If you’re not a petite, this top might be too short as it is already the perfect length for a petite person. […]

Linden sweatshirt

It is getting colder here in Tokyo that I can’t think of sewing anything else but sweater! So I’m very happy to see that the newest pattern from Grainline studio is a sweatshirt pattern. You must have seen several versions of this Linden sweatshirt popping up around the sewing blogs. I can see why so many people are attracted to it. It is a basic and quite straightforward pattern for a sweatshirt with raglan sleeves and scooped neckline. I made the black one first. The fabric is very interesting double-faced knit, black on the outside and white on the inside. It is hard to capture […]

SJ tee and Sandra jeans

These are my newest favorite items of clothing! They were actually finished about a month ago and I’ve been wearing them a lot ever since. The top was made with the merino wool from the Anima pants winner prize that I got last month. I thought the sewing pattern should come from Papercut Patterns as well, so I bought the SJ tee PDF pattern. I love the instant-ness of PDF pattern but Papercut patterns packagings are so cute so I kinda regret not buying the paper version. SJ tee is a slouchy fit tee with the option of a long or short […]

Coppélia Cardi – Papercut Patterns

You might remember these Anima shorts that I made last month, they won the Anima pants competition in the short length category! So happy! I chose the knit pack as the prize and they arrived a couple of weeks ago. Thank you Papercut Patterns! The knit pack includes the Coppélia and the Ensis Tee patterns, and 1.6 metres each of three merino wool fabrics. I have never sewed with merino wool before and they are sooo wonderful. They are soft and warm while being thin, and glide easily under the sewing foot. They also dry very fast and has wonderful stretch recovery. So far […]

Anima pants and Scout tee

I’ve been wanting a pair of easy pants for daily wear when these knit pants were popping out everywhere. Turned out that Papercut patterns is having a competition for one of their pattern, the Anima pants, and that’s why there are lots of people making these pants. Everyone’s version look so good that I had to order the PDF pattern and made myself a pair. You can also buy the paper version of this pattern, I love the instant-ness of PDF patterns. From the pattern description in the website: “A must-have staple item for those times when you need the perfect balance […]

Tara top – Style Arc

I was waiting for the bus yesterday when it was raining, so I took shelter in a fabric store nearby. Of course it wasn’t the best decision (or maybe the best), because when I got home  there was suddenly some addition to my mound of fabric stash. To somewhat lessen my guilty feeling, I immediately worked on one of the fabric. All the fabric in that store was already cut to 1-3 m, this one looks like rayon and is only 1 m in length. I got it for only USD3! Although it has rabbits and little houses on it, I don’t […]

Coco cat top

I found this knit fabric with wonderful cat print and had been trying to find the perfect sewing pattern for it. It must be a simple one because I want to be able to wear it daily. Then Tilly came with her  Coco pattern, just right for this fabric! I cut size 2, the top version with long sleeves. The only alteration I made was shortening the bodice about 3 cm. True to the description, Coco is really simple to sew. The instructions are great and Tilly also has a complete step by step pictures in her blog. I made mine on my […]

Cyd top and Wallis pants

Another couple of Style Arc patterns! The first one is Cyd top, a peplum top with asymmetric seam lines across the front, front pleats, cap sleeves, and invisible zip on the center back. You can also make it without sleeves, or make the dress version using the Addison dress pattern. My alterations for the top are adding 2 cm around the waistline, shortening the bodice across the armhole 1 cm (and alter the sleeves accordingly), shortening the bodice around the waist 2.5 cm, and swayback adjustment 1 cm. This cotton twill with black and white abstract shape print was from my stash […]

Orange Issy knit top and Elle pants

Since a number of satisfying projects with Style Arc patterns, I have ordered a few more from them. This is Issy knit top, which is the freebie for every purchase in February. The top has asymmetric neck drape and angled ruching across the front. The fabric is bamboo jersey from Mood Fabrics who actually is more suitable for spring or even summer. It was part of supplies kindly sent by Kollabora a few months ago. This fabric is sooo wonderful, it is smooth, soft, and comfortable against my skin. My initial plan was to make a dress with it, but when the fabric came I felt that it is just […]
