Baby blue gingham set

A new set of bra and two panties made with ‘Vichy’ kit from ELingeria. I bought the kit sometime ago and unfortunately all the kit is now not available because the store is closing. I’m a bit sad actually because I only have two sources for lingerie pattern and supplies and ELingeria is one of them. The other one is Merckwaerdigh and I hope they are not going anywhere now. Anyone know any good online stores for lingerie supplies that accept Paypal and can send worlwide? On the other hand, ELingeria is having a closing down sale until May 31st […]

Here Kitty Kitty set

When you came across a roll of lycra fabric with feline faces all over it, there’s two things that you can do: dismissed it immediately as tacky and moved on to another fabric; or mesmerized by those little eyes staring at you and suddenly found yourself paying for the fabric. I was the latter. Then I turned it into a bra and panty set. An awesome bra and panty set, that is. The bra pattern is my usual Pin-up Girls Classic Bra #1230 size 30D altered to 26F. You can see that the shape of the cups is a bit different […]

10 years

Sidra is ten years old today. Here he is blowing his candles and does a happy dance over the presents. This year, the kids at Sidra’s grade celebrate their tenth year of life at school. Parents and kids were asked to write a letter to each other and exchanged them at the school event. Here is Sidra’s letter to us: Translation (by my husband): “For Papa, thank you for buying me game that day, I’m so happy. Also for always making me happy. I am proud of you, you’re always doing your best working. Thank you. For Mama, thank you […]

Continuing the corset

My journey in corset making continues! I’ve taken in the corset seams and shaped the waist a bit to hopefully give it a more hourglass shape. And after postponing for sometime, I finally got the courage to cut into my precious broche coutil. The instruction is for single layer underbust, but I decided to use the technique from Corset Making e-book and made it double layered. Fortunately the Sew Curvy kit contained 0.5 m coutil fabric, which is exactly enough for a double layered underbust in my size. In this technique, each layered of panel is sandwiched between the next panel […]

Dreaming of summer (Butterick 5601)

A couple of weeks ago I came home to a surprise package from Latvia in my mailbox with this bundle of three wonderful fabrics inside! As it turned out, these fabrics are gift from lovely Iveta of Wonderosa. She wrote to me last month to offer me a present, any kind of fabric from her etsy shop, Scandinavian Textiles. Thank you so much dear Iveta! I’ve fallen in love with one particular fabric. It is medium weight cotton fabric by Svanefors Textil, a Swedish company who makes home decor fabric in wonderful design. However, I don’t want to make a […]

Banana cut pants and grey sarouel

Let’s continue celebrating the boy and here’s a couple more pants for Sidra! This year I don’t think I will make him more tops because he prefers wearing T-shirts than shirts. Most of them are from Threadless or H&M with interesting prints on the front. Maybe some jackets next autumn but more pants will be quite needed all year long. The blue fabric is quite interesting. It may look like denim but it is actually quite thin, a bit stiff and has a certain shine. The pattern is Ice Pop from Tamanegi Kobo, which is a banana cut pants, or […]

Checker print shirt and green sarouel

Do you follow the Celebrate the Boy series at Made by Rae and and Dana Made it? It’s an annual event of posts, tutorials, and inspirations for the boys in your life! This year it has started on February 25, 2013 and will last for two weeks. It’s the perfect time around because Sidra is in need of new outfit as he keeps growing. I’ve been quite busy sewing last week and came up with several pieces. I found several pieces of different sizes checker print fabric, each in 50 cm (half yard) cut and thought that they would be […]

Basic necessities

I’ve often heard that flesh colored underwear is a staple in every women’s wardrobe, which unfortunately I didn’t have any. So this time I stayed clear of my colorful lycra stash and made a couple of basic stuff. The first one was made with Merckwaerdigh PBH30. From the description in Merckwaerdigh’s store: “a lovely mix of an underwired bra, bustier, body and thong body, all with a deep cleavage and pushing the bust up. This pattern requires some experience in handmade lingerie.”  I was inspired by Amy’s beautiful longline bra and modified this pattern to be a longline too. But […]

2012: The sewing year

It’s that time of the year again! All things that I have sewed in 2012: For me: Several tops, pants, skirts and lots of dresses. My style has shifted a lot from the recent days of this blog, this year I didn’t make a single thing for me from my Japanese pattern books. I guess it’s time to find a better place for them and make rooms for more sewing patterns! Lingerie: Still passionate about making bra and finding the perfect fit! I finally bought The Bra-Makers Manual (the CD version) and have been learning a lot from it. 2013 will certainly […]
