My current favorite bra at the moment is the bronze bra that I made a couple of months ago. The vertical seams on the cups are quite attractive and they’re comfortable to wear. So here is another pair made with the same pattern, Merckwaerdigh BHST2, I made the second variation that have lace inset. This bra pattern actually has interesting low back design but this time I didn’t want a low back so the band has been altered to simple straight band. The cups are fuchsia lycra, lined with Makebra foam lining. The back band are black powernet. The seam between the padded cups and the lace is […]
Coco cat top
I found this knit fabric with wonderful cat print and had been trying to find the perfect sewing pattern for it. It must be a simple one because I want to be able to wear it daily. Then Tilly came with her Coco pattern, just right for this fabric! I cut size 2, the top version with long sleeves. The only alteration I made was shortening the bodice about 3 cm. True to the description, Coco is really simple to sew. The instructions are great and Tilly also has a complete step by step pictures in her blog. I made mine on my […]
Goodbye Shiitake and Hello Shoronpo!
Shiitake finally found his forever family after more than three months in foster care! I was beginning to worry that he wouldn’t get adopted because he was so shy of strangers. Shiitake was fine at home with us, but at the adoption events he would hide in a corner so nobody would see him.He befriended another foster dog called Hara, where he met when he sometimes stayed in another foster family. She was about the same size and age as Shiitake, and just as shy as him too. At adoption events they would crumple together and hide. Then a family came to adopt Shiitake after seeing […]
Selfish Sewing Week – Rose hip tights
Are you sewing along the Selfish Sewing Week Spring 2014? I’m lucky to have the chance to make one of the featured pattern, the Rose hip tights from Seamster Patterns. I think it is perfect pattern because it is something that can be worn by one person only! Unless you don’t mind sharing your tights with your friends…. This pattern has a separate piece for the foot which curves into a triangle at the back of the heel. And it has back seams just like those vintage tights! It has three different options: high rise, low rise, and thigh high. The pattern is very clever. […]
Giveaway: JORD wood watch! – CLOSED
Something a little different today! Several weeks ago I got an email from JORD, introducing their line of wood watches and offered me to review a watch of my chosen model. I don’t usually wear wristwatch but actually I like them, especially the classic wristwatch with metal link bands. So when I opened JORD website to look at the watches, I was very intrigued to see such unique twist of the classic style. For my complimentary watch, I chose one from the Ely series in the color maple. The Ely series has small face that is suitable for my wrist. You can […]
Bellatrix blazer – Papercut patterns
You might have seen this blazer several times if you follow me in Instagram. This is my new favorite jacket, the Bellatrix blazer by Papercut Patterns! Actually I always thought that I was not a blazer person. Maybe a bomber jacket or coat person, but not a blazer one. However, after seeing so many different version of this blazer around the blogosphere, I got the urge to at least try making one. I didn’t want to buy a whole supply for something that I might not wear daily though, so I turned to my store bought clothes to find something. It […]
Eleven years old!
Suddenly my little baby has turned into an eleven years old tween!
Here Kitty Kitty set #2
The kittens are back! You might remember my first set with this cat fabric here, which coincidentally is almost exactly one year ago. I still had enough fabric for another set and have been waiting for the right idea. This time the pattern is Merckwaerdigh BHS10 that contains a mix of 5 different bras, including soft bra, racerback bra, soft lace bra, underwired bra, and padded (foam lined) bra. I made the foam padded ones. Nothing much to say about this set except that they’re a bit ridiculous, somewhat creepy, and so fabulous! Bra pattern is Merckwaerdigh BHS10 size 30D. Panties […]
Cyd top and Wallis pants
Another couple of Style Arc patterns! The first one is Cyd top, a peplum top with asymmetric seam lines across the front, front pleats, cap sleeves, and invisible zip on the center back. You can also make it without sleeves, or make the dress version using the Addison dress pattern. My alterations for the top are adding 2 cm around the waistline, shortening the bodice across the armhole 1 cm (and alter the sleeves accordingly), shortening the bodice around the waist 2.5 cm, and swayback adjustment 1 cm. This cotton twill with black and white abstract shape print was from my stash […]
Bronze bra and panties set
These are Merckwaerdigh BHST2, underwired bra with low back. The panties patterns are Merckwaerdigh MIX30 and Merckwaerdigh Mix25 that I have used several times before. The set was made with a Merckwaerdigh kit which includes fabrics and all notions, enough for one bra and two panties. Using kit like this is great because I can skip the mix and match step and focus on sewing rightaway. In the original pattern, the cups have no padding. Since I was quite happy with the foam lined cups on my last set, I lined these ones with the foam lining from Makebra as well. Usually I don’t like wearing padded bra, but […]
