Running belt

Since I moved to Japan my weight had been slowly creeping up. In the last 6 years I gained 6 kg, while before my weight stayed more or less the same since the college days. Recently I put on one of my handmade dress and it was tight around the waist! It was time to do something. I decided to start doing exercise and running. I have to admit that I’m not big on exercise, mostly I spend my days on the couch behind my notebook. But there is a beautiful jogging track near my house so it would be a […]

Tara top – Style Arc

I was waiting for the bus yesterday when it was raining, so I took shelter in a fabric store nearby. Of course it wasn’t the best decision (or maybe the best), because when I got home  there was suddenly some addition to my mound of fabric stash. To somewhat lessen my guilty feeling, I immediately worked on one of the fabric. All the fabric in that store was already cut to 1-3 m, this one looks like rayon and is only 1 m in length. I got it for only USD3! Although it has rabbits and little houses on it, I don’t […]

Fuchsia and black bra set

My current favorite bra at the moment is the bronze bra that I made a couple of months ago. The vertical seams on the cups are quite attractive and they’re comfortable to wear. So here is another pair made with the same pattern, Merckwaerdigh BHST2, I made the second variation that have lace inset. This bra pattern actually has interesting low back design but this time I didn’t want a low back so the band has been altered to simple straight band. The cups are fuchsia lycra, lined with Makebra foam lining. The back band are black powernet. The seam between the padded cups and the lace is […]

Coco cat top

I found this knit fabric with wonderful cat print and had been trying to find the perfect sewing pattern for it. It must be a simple one because I want to be able to wear it daily. Then Tilly came with her  Coco pattern, just right for this fabric! I cut size 2, the top version with long sleeves. The only alteration I made was shortening the bodice about 3 cm. True to the description, Coco is really simple to sew. The instructions are great and Tilly also has a complete step by step pictures in her blog. I made mine on my […]

Goodbye Shiitake and Hello Shoronpo!

Shiitake finally found his forever family after more than three months in foster care! I was beginning to worry that he wouldn’t get adopted because he was so shy of strangers. Shiitake was fine at home with us, but at the adoption events he would hide in a corner so nobody would see him.He befriended another foster dog called Hara, where he met when he sometimes stayed in another foster family. She was about the same size and age as Shiitake, and just as shy as him too. At adoption events they would crumple together and hide. Then a family came to adopt Shiitake after seeing […]

Selfish Sewing Week – Rose hip tights

Are you sewing along the Selfish Sewing Week Spring 2014? I’m lucky to have the chance to make one of the featured pattern, the Rose hip tights from Seamster Patterns. I think it is perfect pattern because it is something that can be worn by one person only! Unless you don’t mind sharing your tights with your friends…. This pattern has a separate piece for the foot which curves into a triangle at the back of the heel. And it has back seams just like those vintage tights! It has three different options: high rise, low rise, and thigh high. The pattern is very clever. […]
