Winter cape

The school requires that the children should wear school smock to school and any jacket or coat should be taken off before entering the schoolbus. That is why I decided to make a cape for Sidra because it can be easily taken off once the bus is coming. Navy suit and white shirt

Sidra needed a navy knee-length pants and a white shirt for the school concert, so I thought I’d just made them myself instead of buying some. The shirt fabric is white cotton with some interesting thin pintucks on it. The pants fabric is navy thick cotton, and I also made a matching jacket to the pants. For added warmth, I lined the jacket with blue flannel that I cut out of an Ikea blanket. Birthday Jacket

I almost can’t believe I finally finished it! This jacket is supposed to be my husband’s birthday present, but I miscalculated the working time. His birthday was last Monday, and I’ve forgotten that there would be two days weekend before that, in which I wouldn’t be able to sew. And I couldn’t sew on Monday too because Sidra had one school day off after the Sports Festival. Dog jacket

This dog jacket and pants use the same pattern as the sailor-collar jacket. I make the pockets bigger and change the collar to a hood and add ears, eyes, and the mouth part to make it look like a dog’s face. For added warmth, I lined the jacket with the same type of fabric in mustard yellow. This is my first attempt in lining a jacket, so there was a lot of trial and error along the way. Sailor-collar jacket and wide-legged pants

Summer is over, and the weather is really nice right now. But it’ll get colder so I think Sidra is going to need a new jacket. I found the fabric in my favourite store, Yuzawaya, and really like the colour and texture. Apparently the 2 meters fabric is enough to make him a little suit. The jacket has sailor collar, two front pockets and coconut shell buttons. The pants have wide legs with turned-up hems, invisible front pockets and big back pockets. Boy’s summer jacket

After seeing me spending some time in front of the sewing machine and then came up with new clothes, it’s only natural that Sidra wants some handmade clothes too. I found a beautiful pattern book for kids in Kinokuniya, Shinjuku (an 8 floor bookstore, mind you), and chose a summer jacket.
