Linen shorts

I made this linen shorts several days ago because I need something to wear at home. The linen fabric is only 50 cm, bought already cut and it’s only about $2. The pattern is Jane from Burdastyle, which is very simple and easy. The fabric wasn’t enough, so I only added 1 cm for the hem and folded it inside, then I sewed a row of cotton lace on it. Shop update and my progress on the Burdastyle Book project

A busy week and Burdastyle Book!

The Artist market is coming this weekend! If you will be around Yokohama, please drop by and give our booth a peek. Floral skirts and dresses

I’ve used the Wenlan blouse pattern from Burdastyle to make this bib dress before and really loved the result. This time I use the pattern again to make these floral bib dresses. The fabrics are so pretty with tiny floral patterns on them, they also look and feel like Liberty fabrics. I added a few pleats on the top of the sleeves and let the raw edges shown. In the technical drawing of the top, I saw that the sleeves are on top of the lower skirt part. Floral dresses (and second take on Tara dress)

I found these pretty floral fabric when going shopping to Asakusabashi with Chie and Kayo the other day. The fabrics are cotton with embroidered border on one side. I love how comfortable the fabrics felt on my hand. I used one of the fabric to make another try on the Tara pattern. No alteration other than making the sleeves double layered with raw edges shown.  It was finished pretty quick and I made no mistake this time! Bib dress

This very pretty embroidered cotton was found in a local fabric store, but unfortunately it was only in a small piece. So I planned to make a bib dress with it, combining it with this denim-like blue cotton/linen fabric. I was ready to draft a pattern myself when I found this Wenlan blouse pattern in Burdastyle, the pattern is actually for a blouse and the recommended fabric is flowy materials like chiffon and silk. Too many bags won’t kill you

I was offered by several nice ladies to join them in a local market held in my area. This market is usually held for two days, once in every season. I’ve been there once, the sellers are usually stay-at-home moms who loves to craft in their spare time, and the buyers are other moms too, so it’s a bit like an inner circle. The place is not really big, but I guess it’s enough to accommodate all of these women from the area who’s interested to come. Featured in German Burda Modemagazin!

A few months ago, I got an email from Burdastyle that they wanted to feature this ‘Sailor-collar jacket and wide-legged pants’ in the German fashion sewing magazine, Burda mode, for a section about fashionable kids creation. So I sent them the picture as requested. This morning, Burdastyle sent me two scanned pages of the magazine in which the sailor jacket is being featured. It’s in Burda Modemagazin, 2/2009 edition. Burdastyle’s Best of 2008 and some more knitting

I just found out today that Burdastyle has published a Best of 2008 album on their photos section, and two of my creations are there! Thank you, Burdastyle! On the other hand, I’m in the middle of two new knitting projects. Yes I’m so greedy. Reversible Charlie Bag

Feel like haven’t sewn anything for ages. This Charlie bag pattern is pretty popular in Burdastyle, and I finally join the crowd and make myself one. My Charlie is reversible, white fabric with red stripes on one side and black linen with red Matryoshka dolls pattern on the other side. I make it without any pockets or anything, so it was finished pretty fast, about half an hour or so. The size is perfect for me, as I love big bags.
