Banana cut pants and grey sarouel

Let’s continue celebrating the boy and here’s a couple more pants for Sidra! This year I don’t think I will make him more tops because he prefers wearing T-shirts than shirts. Most of them are from Threadless or H&M with interesting prints on the front. Maybe some jackets next autumn but more pants will be quite needed all year long. The blue fabric is quite interesting. It may look like denim but it is actually quite thin, a bit stiff and has a certain shine. The pattern is Ice Pop from Tamanegi Kobo, which is a banana cut pants, or […]

Checker print shirt and green sarouel

Do you follow the Celebrate the Boy series at Made by Rae and and Dana Made it? It’s an annual event of posts, tutorials, and inspirations for the boys in your life! This year it has started on February 25, 2013 and will last for two weeks. It’s the perfect time around because Sidra is in need of new outfit as he keeps growing. I’ve been quite busy sewing last week and came up with several pieces. I found several pieces of different sizes checker print fabric, each in 50 cm (half yard) cut and thought that they would be […]

Basic necessities

I’ve often heard that flesh colored underwear is a staple in every women’s wardrobe, which unfortunately I didn’t have any. So this time I stayed clear of my colorful lycra stash and made a couple of basic stuff. The first one was made with Merckwaerdigh PBH30. From the description in Merckwaerdigh’s store: “a lovely mix of an underwired bra, bustier, body and thong body, all with a deep cleavage and pushing the bust up. This pattern requires some experience in handmade lingerie.”  I was inspired by Amy’s beautiful longline bra and modified this pattern to be a longline too. But […]

Something new: Making Corset

Have you ever caught something like this? I think it can be called seamstress’ block. These past few weeks I’ve been really wanting to sew something but no idea at all. No, not another dress or skirt or top or pants, I need something new! And my fabric stash is so boring! It didn’t help that the sight of those fabrics made me feel guilty for not wanting them. After days of browsing for ideas, I stumbled upon corset making. I’m not unfamiliar of wearing one as I wore a medical corset in my teenage years to help my scoliosis. […]

Velvet Tiramisu dress

After seeing so many pretty versions of this dress -check out this delicious purple number by lladybird-, I’m jumping into the Tiramisu dress bandwagon! If you haven’t heard about this pattern, this is the first pattern from Steph‘s new pattern line, Sewing Cake. From the description of Tiramisu Dress: “Knit knee-length dress with front surplice (mock wrap) neckline, short kimono sleeves and an easily customizable midriff section. The skirt features in-seam pockets and falls in the soft folds of a vintage half-circle skirt. The pattern includes optional stripes placement guide, cup sizing A-D and a bust alteration line.” It is […]

Lace Racerback Bralette

This one is a bit different than my usual bra. No underwires, no openings, no lining, just some stretch lace fabric and elastics! The pattern is Merckwaerdigh BHS10 pattern that I got sometime ago. It contains a mix of 5 different bras, including soft bra, racerback bra, soft lace bra, underwired bra, and a padded bra. It is wonderful that you get 5 bra in one! I made the soft bra on the upper right, but changed the back to the racerback one. It is basically a bralette as the bra doesn’t offer much support. I usually wear store-bought soft […]
