Men’s cargo pants: Failed!

I had been spending several days making a pair of cargo pants for my husband. I cut the fabric and happily went sewing all those pockets and flaps. And when he tried them on, the waist is too small! Of course there is noone to blame but myself for not making muslin first or even fit them before everything was too late. But I would like to partly blame my husband for this mishap. The pattern is from Full of Patterns, a Japanese pattern store where I bought the pattern for my husband’s selvedge jeans. I used size L for the jeans […]

How to buy from Full of Patterns website

Hello! Several people have expressed interest in Full of Patterns, so I asked them if it is possible for people living outside Japan to purchase the PDF patterns. They replied immediately and sent these step-by-step screen captions with English explanations (in red) on how to order. It might be a bit of a hassle, but their patterns are good so it is worth to try. I have made several patterns from them that you can see here. Full of Patterns sells patterns in paper and PDF version but you can only purchase the PDF patterns from outside Japan. They seem to focus more […]

Selvedge men’s jeans – Full of Patterns 07

Sometime ago I posted that I wanted to make a pair of  selvedge jeans for my husband and have started making the muslin. It turned out that ‘sometime ago’ meant 8 months ago! Yikes. The good news is, the jeans are finally finished now! And actually it only took me two days to make them, just in time for my husband’s 44th birthday! The pattern is Men’s jeans FOP-07 by Full of Patterns, a Japanese pattern shop. The site is completely in Japanese but it wasn’t a big problem as I always use Google translate extension on Chrome to browse and even order things […]

Shweshwe sarouel

This is the second Sheshwe fabric that Emily from Stitch had sent me. The pattern is called New Mountain. I love that it is sort of optical illusion where you can either see a weave pattern or zigzag pattern. Sidra saw the fabric the other day and demanded a pair of pants to be made with this fabric. He is undergoing a style change at the moment. A few months ago he said that his style is daaku (dark), hence the black shoes, black t-shirts, dark pants, and skull pattern. But recently he announced that he is not daaku anymore, […]

Banana cut pants and grey sarouel

Let’s continue celebrating the boy and here’s a couple more pants for Sidra! This year I don’t think I will make him more tops because he prefers wearing T-shirts than shirts. Most of them are from Threadless or H&M with interesting prints on the front. Maybe some jackets next autumn but more pants will be quite needed all year long. The blue fabric is quite interesting. It may look like denim but it is actually quite thin, a bit stiff and has a certain shine. The pattern is Ice Pop from Tamanegi Kobo, which is a banana cut pants, or […]

Checker print shirt and green sarouel

Do you follow the Celebrate the Boy series at Made by Rae and and Dana Made it? It’s an annual event of posts, tutorials, and inspirations for the boys in your life! This year it has started on February 25, 2013 and will last for two weeks. It’s the perfect time around because Sidra is in need of new outfit as he keeps growing. I’ve been quite busy sewing last week and came up with several pieces. I found several pieces of different sizes checker print fabric, each in 50 cm (half yard) cut and thought that they would be […]
