More florals!

Things I made in a week

These are some stuff that I made last week. All fabrics are cotton in various floral pattern.

I made another ruffled collar dress. The last one I made is one size bigger than my usual size, so this time I made another one in smaller size.

This pants are actually quite similar with the pants I often made for Sidra, so they were pretty easy to make. I only put elastic on the back waist band because I want a flat appearance on the front waist. They are very comfy!

With so many floral fabrics, naturally I’ve acquired quite a bunch of fabric leftovers. I cut some into bias strips and use them to bind this simple denim vest. I’ve made several of these vests with different bindings.

After a couple of days, I began to run out of ideas. So I browsed around my old stuff and decided to recreate this dress with hood, sans sleeves this time.

And this is a bolero with embroidered sleeves. The neckline has a casing for drawstring, creating a gathered effect.

Sorry for posting so many pictures in one post! I should’ve taken some pictures every time I finished a project, but I got carried away last week. Today I haven’t been to the sewing room at all, taking pictures and posting all these pics. More will be coming!

  8. Is there anything you sew up that isn’t awesome? I love the ruffled dress, and the vests are super cute. I can’t remember the last time I have seen anyone wear a vest, but maybe it is time for a come-back. Very cute, and as someone else said, very feminine!

  19. Nicole says:

Would you mind sharing where you got the bolero pattern? Is it your own creation? I love it!

    • verypurpleperson says:

I made my own pattern, but the shape is actually quite similar to ordinary peasant blouse with raglan sleeves. You can alter a peasant blouse pattern to make it.
Just shorten the length, cut the front piece in the middle, flare the sleeves if necessary, and add drawstring casing on the neckline for the tie :)

This is so beautiful and now that you’ve taught me to do bias binding properly (your instructions worked perfectly-thank youn thank you!) I want to try the vest…so cute!!!
When I was in Japan I noticed sooo many girls wearing these florals. But your pieces are so beautiful and well cut and fashionable….and not like pajamas- sometimes pants from those florals can appear to be pajamas…….
I’m making a romper from florals right now….I wonder how it will be…thanks for posting. You are an inspirationa and I’m so glad I found you!!!

I’m so happy to hear that it worked out, Meg! I’m a bit nervous about giving advice :)
You should try the vest, it’s quite easy with no buttons and fasteners, just binding strips all over. Quite an exercise in binding too :)
