Red lace set

First post in 2017! I have so many finished sewing items that haven’t been posted yet. I’m trying to work through them though, taking pictures and posting eventually. I found this red stretch lace in a small fabric store in my neighborhood. It is sort of an outlet store that sells out of print and end of rolls fabric so the collections changed all the time. Recently they had new batches of colorful stretch lace sold in 2 m cut length. I’m probably the only one in my neighborhood who is interested in all those stretch lace so prepare to see more colorful […]

Red silk dress (Simplicity 2281) and a haircut!

A new dress! This one was made with Jewel of Brooklyn Dress kit from Kollabora, that consisted of Simplicity 2281, a Cynthia Rowley Collection pattern, and 2 m of 100% silk Solid Crepe de Chine from Mood Fabrics. Since I didn’t really want the dress in two colors like the Kollabora version, I asked for the color Tango Red, Tara from Kollabora was really helpful to accommodate my request. Simplicity 2281 is a sweet dress with gathered neckline, hidden pockets and gathered tulip skirt. I made view A in size 6 on bust and hip, size 8 on waist. Other than […]

Wide-leg wool pants (vintage Simplicity 6108)

Thank you for all the warm wishes on my 40th birthday! It is so wonderful to be able to share the day with so many people around the world. Isn’t internet an amazing thing? Once again, thank you so much! So I finished sewing a pair of pants yesterday and took some pictures today. Sorry for the quality of the pictures, the sun is not very friendly today. It has been raining since morning. The pattern is vintage seventies Simplicity 6108 that I got for USD 1 from this etsy seller. From the pattern envelope: Misses’proportioned straight leg and wide leg pants. […]

Wrap dress (vintage Simplicity 7705)

I always love the idea of wearing a wrap dress. It is so easy, no zipper and buttons, yet the whole look is so feminine. I looked around at ebay and got myself surprised at the price of the original vintage Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress patterns, especially Vogue 1548 and 1549. Apparently they are very popular, hence the prices go up to the sky. I always thought that USD30 for a vintage 1970s pattern is way too much, but apparently some people are willing to pay more than USD 100 for an original DVF wrap dress pattern! There is […]
