Welcome Fuwawa!

Welcome Fuwawa!
Welcome Fuwawa!

We have a new family member! After spending one month with Fuwawa, we fell in love and decided to adopt her. I still can’t believe that we have our own dog now!

When a pet in ARK has found a forever home, the round pendant is exchanged with a star pendant. Here is Fuwawa with her new star pendant!

Sadly Fuwawa was debarked by her previous owner so she couldn’t make a proper bark. But each day she is looking happier and more comfortable. Every night she sleeps beside Sidra and enjoys being petted until both of them fall asleep.

In the morning she would wake my husband and me up by giving these little bites on the arms or shoulders or pawing my hair. Sometimes she would play with my hair or smell it but then my hair would get tangled up between her teeth. Then of course she would cough on my head -_-

She is the most playful in the morning. Her favorite game is ‘almost got hit by the sliding door’ where I would slide the door open and close, saying things like ‘ooohh you almost get hit! you almost get hit again!’ and she would get very excited, running from and back to the door, pretending to almost get hit. She only plays the game in the morning though and doesn’t play with toys or other things.

She used to sleep on her bed but when we got a new couch, she decided that it is her new bed. It is where she spends her days mostly now. Her post is by the window where she can look outside and silently bark at people.

We also have a part-time pet cat! One day a cat followed Sidra home, I gave the cat some cat food and milk (I always have spare cat food for the neighborhood cats). Since then she has been coming twice a day to join Fuwawa’s daily walk from start to finish. It is so funny, people always seems confused to see us walking a dog, followed by a cat. Fuwawa doesn’t seem to mind the cat although the cat sometimes slapped her. But the cat always has her claws retracted, so I think she just wants to give a warning. I plan to get the cat spayed as I have no intention of taking care a litter of kitten in the future.

We will still foster dogs in the future and now we have Fuwawa as my assistant!

  2. Congrats to sweet Fuwawa! She will be the best-dressed puppy in town, we know that! She will be a wonderful foster-puppy assistant, no doubt. :))

  3. Not only do you sew beautifully, you also have a heart of gold to take such good care of animals. Fuwawa is one lucky pup!

  4. Awwww I’m so pleased that you guys get to keep this little cutie. It will surely make giving back the future foster dogs a little easier. Congrats to Fuwawa too – she really won the lottery finding you guys :)

  5. I used to have a cat that would wake me up when it was time to get up for school. If purring and cuddles didn’t work, she would gently use her claws on me until I woke up. I really miss that.

  6. I have been following your doggie adventures and I can’t tell you how happy and excited I am for you! I just know you will all be so happy together.

Dogs are so special. I can’t bear to think of being without my dog!

  7. Congratulations on bringing Fuwawa into your pack! I had never heard such a ghastly thing as debarking on pet dogs. Shame on the person who performed it.

    Wishing you all the joy,

  8. How wonderful to have found a new family member by opening your heart!

I’ve never heard of debarking a dog. Second only to the person who paid to have it done is the person who did it. Outrageous!!

  9. congrats to fuwawa for finding a happy forever home with you! our little adopted dog sits on our couch (now “her” couch) all day too. she only plays at night and has just started playing with some toys, but still doesn’t understand walking on a leash. i love that fuwawa made a cat friend for her walks, so cute

  10. This is such sweet news!!! I have been following along as you posted pictures of foster dogs and all the things you sewed for them. Can’t wait to see what you sew for this little guy!! Congratulations to all of you :)

  11. My dearest Novita, I’m so very happy for you! You now have another child! I’ve shared my life with three “rescues”. Two of them have passed and Viggo (I rescued him from Puerto Rico) he is now sleeping on my lap. We have also Chewbaca, a Pekingese but he’s still into chasing butterflies and rainbows. He’s the baby of the house. Sounds like your mornings will be bright! Filled with smiles and laughter. May they stay that way! Sending you a warm hug from Virginia! Evelyn

  12. Congratulations on the new family member(s)! I love how that cat just walks along… Fuwawa is adorable! I had never heard about debarking dogs, it sounds like a horrible thing to do though…

  13. Congratulations!! I’ve loved watching Fuwawa grow and bond with you all. Im shocked that people de-bark their dogs!! such a cruel and unusal practise. I find it very sad when people dont have the time to train their animals. I’ve managed to train our partially deaf dog to be quiet via sign and body language – such a rewarding experiance when it work hehe.

  14. Oh I’m so happy for you. I adopted a dog three years ago and it has been amazing seeing how much she has come out of her shell and relaxed around us (she was 5 when we adopted her). Fostering sounds like it has been a wonderful experience and a good way to (unexpectedly) find a dog that suits you longterm.
