I’m in a magazine cover! Well, at least my handmade organizers are ^_^
If you can get your hands on the newest (December 2010/January 2011) issue of Sew News magazine, you would see five organizer wallets featured in the cover. They were handmade by me! You can see the cover in the Sew News facebook page here.
I was contacted by Ellen March, the editor of Sew News, and she invited me to contribute a tutorial for the December issue. She was interested in my wallet tutorial, and asked me to develop the wallet idea into something new. I began to brainstorm some ideas and finally came up with this organizer.
The organizer wallet is a development of my wallet, but it is bigger with more pockets on the inside and outer side. There are 5 versions of the wallet, each with slight differences in details. My favorite is the kid’s version, it has a shoulder strap and can contain markers, crayons, and small drawing books. The other versions are for medicine and tissues, tea lovers, letters and envelopes, and a men’s version for cards and keys.
I was so happy making all the organizers, because it gave me a reason to make something with all those pretty Japanese linen fabric!

I tried printing the patterns with adobe but many of the patterns don’t fit the page. I scaled them to fit the page but I don’t know if it will be accurate. Is it possible to get the measurements instead?
Hi Kathy,
The patterns are made by Sew News editorial team, based on my pattern and instructions. I saw that there is an enlargement instruction in each pattern piece, so they’re not supposed to be scaled to page. You can print them as tiled pages after enlarging the pattern.
The pattern is copyrighted by Sew News, so I’m afraid that I can’t give the measurements. I guess the actual pattern/measurements is in the printed issue. I’m sorry!
This organizers are soooo awesome! Can you put the tutorial on this site? the link you shared isn’t work for download the patterns :(
The downloads are PDF files, so you need program who can read PDF files.
One of them is Adobe reader, which can be downloaded here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/.
After you’ve installed Adobe reader, you can click on each pattern piece and print them.

Hey congrats! you’re so talented you deserve to be on the cover girl! I downloaded the pattern a few days ago from the SewNews website had no idea it was your handiwork :) Its sad that I don’t get the magazine here in Bombay :( but atleast I have the online version. All five of them are so cool. Must get down to making them soon :)
