Polka dot plunge bra

Another self-drafted plunge bra! I want something smooth to be worn under T-shirt, so no pretty lace this time. The fabric is lycra in black with purple dots. Since I don’t have much space between the breasts, I find that a plunge bra with its lowered center front is comfortable. Baby blue and white lace set

If you like bra making, you have probably heard about Maya bra by Ana Filimon. It’s a 3 piece cup bra pattern, available in wide range of sizes, and it is free! This pattern uses different method for finding the bra size. It needs two measurements: underbust size and wire size. With these two measurements, the bra size can be found in the available size chart in her site. Plunge bra

Lately I have been feeling very inspired after finished watching the latest Beverly Johnson’s class on Craftsy, ‘Sewing Bras: Foam, Lace, and Beyond’. If you are interested in bra making, I really recommend this class, along with Beverly Johnson’s first and second classes: Sewing Bras: Construction & Fit and Sewing Bras: Designer Techniques. Actually I have bought her first two classes sometime ago, but only recently managed to watch them all. Slip dress and panties

I like to wear a slip under my unlined dress to keep them from clinging. So when I found this very soft white jersey in a sale box, I immediately got to work and turned it into a slip dress! The jersey is very soft and stretchy, very comfortable against the skin. Print mesh bra set

My second self-drafted set! This one is a bra with partial band, or hook-up bra as it is called in Kristina Shin’s ‘Patternmaking for Underwear Design’ book. The panties pattern is also self-drafted using the same book, the same pattern as the ones from my white set. The fabric is mesh fabric with floral print in muted color, part of a Merckwaerdigh kit. The kit actually comes with stretch lace but I only used the mesh fabric. The cups are lined with tricot mesh while the band is lined with powernet. Self-drafted bra set

I just found out that a bra is not called ‘a pair of bra’! My apology if I was being confusing by talking about ‘a pair of bra’ and ended up just posting one. Where’s the other?! Colorful dotty set

After my initial failure with my previous bra, I decided to make the pattern again with simpler design. The black ribbons of my intial design are interesting but I will use other pattern with them. So here is makeBra #DL05 in colordul dotty lycra fabric! I also made more alterations to the cups because this pattern is one cup size smaller than what I usually wear. Fuchsia and black bra set

My current favorite bra at the moment is the bronze bra that I made a couple of months ago. The vertical seams on the cups are quite attractive and they’re comfortable to wear. So here is another pair made with the same pattern, Merckwaerdigh BHST2, I made the second variation that have lace inset. This bra pattern actually has interesting low back design but this time I didn’t want a low back so the band has been altered to simple straight band. Bronze bra and panties set

These are Merckwaerdigh BHST2, underwired bra with low back. The panties patterns are Merckwaerdigh MIX30 and Merckwaerdigh Mix25 that I have used several times before. The set was made with a Merckwaerdigh kit which includes fabrics and all notions, enough for one bra and two panties. Using kit like this is great because I can skip the mix and match step and focus on sewing rightaway. In the original pattern, the cups have no padding.
