The knee-length yoga leggings that I made last July are one of the most-worn item that I’ve ever made. But since the weather got cold, I have gone back to wearing my old store-bought leggings. I suppose it is time to make another leggings! I have been learning more about sewing workout wear through Sew and Draft Your Own Personal 7 Piece Workout Wear Collection course that was sent to me by Burdastyle. In one of the lessons, Meg Healy (the instructor) teaches how to develop the basic leggings sloper pattern into a pair of leggings with crotch gusset. The gusset is drafted in […]

Neon skirt
Since Sidra entered junior high school, he became very busy with all the school activities. Even on weekends, he often has to go to school for sports practice. I suddenly found myself with lots of free time, so I started taking a couple of jobs recently. One thing that I do is working with a designer in developing a product. The company makes bags for outdoor use like backpacks, photography bags, and such. I’m very excited with this job because I get to work with materials that I’ve never used before (do you know what a gatekeeper is? I didn’t know […]
Pattern testing: Robson coat
I’m sure you must be all excited when you read Tasia’s post about Sewaholic latest pattern: the Robson coat! This is an unlined classic trenchcoat that is perfect for warmer weather. I was fortunate once again to have the opportunity to be one of the pattern testers. This is my fourth time by the way, I’ve tested Minoru jacket, Renfrew top, and Hollyburn skirt before. Thank you Tasia! Here’s the description of the pattern: description: “Trench coat features rounded collar and lapel, princess seams, and front pockets. Double-breasted with storm flaps and epaulettes for a classic look. Coat is […]
Pattern testing: Hollyburn skirt
You must have known by now that Tasia of Sewaholic has just launched her newest pattern, the Hollyburn skirt. It means that now I can share the pictures of the skirt that I have made as one of the pattern tester! This is the third time I’ve been a pattern tester for Sewaholic pattern, the other ones are Minoru Jacket and these Renfrew tops. I’ve also made her Pendrell top several times and this Cambie dress is one of my favorite thing in the world. I never have to alter her pattern too much, each time it was just shortening […]
Cambie dress in Sakura
My most favorite dress at the moment! The pattern is Cambie by Tasia at Sewaholic. This pattern confirmed my love for Tasia’s patterns, they don’t require too much alteration and the results are always flattering on me. I made the dress in size 2, and my pattern alterations are: shortened the bodice 3 cm. swayback alteration shortened the skirt changed the sweetheart neckline to straight neckline, following Tasia’s tutorial here. I also tucked the center front a bit to prevent gaping neckline as most of my dresses tend to have this problem. The fabric is medium-weight kimono fabric by […]
Pink Pendrell and Zebra print Kasia
The sun is shining today so I can take some pictures of my recent sewing. Here’s another combo of Kasia and Pendrell that I finished a couple of days ago. When I made this Kasia skirt for me, I wasn’t quite sure if I would be wearing it often. Turned out that the skirt has become one of my wardrobe staples that I reached often. I decided that it is time for another Kasia! As before, I printed the pattern at 92% and used size 38. I love this method -instead of merely shortening the hem- because it makes the shape and details of […]
My Renfrew Top
If you’re following Sewaholic blog (which you must!), you must have known that Tasia has just released her latest pattern, The Renfrew Top. It’s a basic knit top pattern with three neckline and sleeve options; and I was lucky to be one of the pattern tester! It is a simple pattern, easy to sew, yet has a professional and clean result. My favorite part is the sleeve and hem bands, no stretched out hems! You don’t have to use serger to sew the top. My Renfrew top was entirely sewed with zigzag stitch on my Janome set on 0.5-1 on width and 3 on […]
Fall jacket (Minoru by Sewaholic)
Finally I can post about this jacket! This is my favorite jacket at the moment, I’ve been wearing it everyday and loving every moment of it. The pattern is the newly-released Minoru jacket by the talented Tasia from Sewaholic. I was fortunate to be one of the pattern testers who can have a try-out weeks before its release. When I saw the pattern for the first time, I was very excited! It is definitely created with a woman’s figure in mind. The jacket has gathered neckline and raglan sleeves, front zipper, and an optional secret hood hidden inside the […]
Two Pendrells and One Kasia
Lately I’ve been expanding my wardrobe with more skirts and tops. I have lots of dresses already, and I feel that I need to introduce something different to my wardrobe. My style always changes subtly from time to time, otherwise I will get bored of myself! I bought Pendrell blouse pattern by Tasia from Sewaholic sometime ago but only had the chance to try it now. I must say that I love it. So much that I made two in one day! The instructions are very clear and I only need a couple hours to make one blouse, from tracing […]
