Cyd top and Wallis pants

Another couple of Style Arc patterns! The first one is Cyd top, a peplum top with asymmetric seam lines across the front, front pleats, cap sleeves, and invisible zip on the center back. You can also make it without sleeves, or make the dress version using the Addison dress pattern. My alterations for the top are adding 2 cm around the waistline, shortening the bodice across the armhole 1 cm (and alter the sleeves accordingly), shortening the bodice around the waist 2.5 cm, and swayback adjustment 1 cm. This cotton twill with black and white abstract shape print was from my stash […]

Bronze bra and panties set

These are Merckwaerdigh BHST2, underwired bra with low back. The panties patterns are Merckwaerdigh MIX30 and Merckwaerdigh Mix25 that I have used several times before. The set was made with a Merckwaerdigh kit which includes fabrics and all notions, enough for one bra and two panties. Using kit like this is great because I can skip the mix and match step and focus on sewing rightaway. In the original pattern, the cups have no padding. Since I was quite happy with the foam lined cups on my last set, I lined these ones with the foam lining from Makebra as well. Usually I don’t like wearing padded bra, but […]

Summer Concert Tee – Pattern Parcel #1

It is already March but why is it still soooo cold here in Tokyo? I just can’t wait for the warmer weather to arrive so I can wear other things than coat! Here is a tee that I made for the hopefully warmer weather next week. The pattern is Summer Concert Tee by Dixie DIY. The smallest size of this pattern (XS) is for bust size 34″. Since my bust size is 31.5″, I printed the pattern at 93% and cut size XS. I think it would make me size XXS for this pattern. The pattern is drafted for 2-way stretch […]

Orange Issy knit top and Elle pants

Since a number of satisfying projects with Style Arc patterns, I have ordered a few more from them. This is Issy knit top, which is the freebie for every purchase in February. The top has asymmetric neck drape and angled ruching across the front. The fabric is bamboo jersey from Mood Fabrics who actually is more suitable for spring or even summer. It was part of supplies kindly sent by Kollabora a few months ago. This fabric is sooo wonderful, it is smooth, soft, and comfortable against my skin. My initial plan was to make a dress with it, but when the fabric came I felt that it is just […]

Dog fur bolero

Why would a dog needs a fur bolero, considering that she already has fur all over? The answer is not important though! I think Fuwawa looks fabulous in it, don’t you agree? The pattern is dog bolero from MillaMilla, my favorite Japanese pattern shop for dogwear pattern. They sell PDF pattern in their  Japanese site, English site, and Etsy store, I bought mine in the Japanase site. In MillaMilla store, you can buy pattern only without the instructions. I chose this option as the bolero is quite simple. The fabric is faux fleece fur in shocking pink with floral lining, […]

Kate dress (and thoughts about sewing everyday clothes)

Next from my growing Style Arc pattern stash! This is Kate dress, a wrap dress inspired by Kate Middleton’s engagement dress. It has several reviews on PatternReview who mostly highly recommend it. As usual for Style Arc patterns, I cut size 6. I shortened the bodice about 2 cm, but next time I might reduce it to 1 cm. The original hem is quite long and I had to shorten it about 20 cm. I left out the sleeves at the end of sleeves and lengthened the ties about 15 cm. My fabric is polyester knit with abstract floral […]

Floral bomber jacket and knit skirt

I love my new jacket! The pattern is Rigel bomber by Papercut patterns. The first time I saw it was in Sophie’s blog with her wonderful polkadot version. Since then I couldn’t get rid of the image of my own bomber jacket from my mind. I wanted a bomber jacket, and it had to be in floral pattern. Why? I don’t know, it just had to. Rigel bomber description: “An easy fit unlined raglan sleeve bomber jacket with the option to make with a geometric sleeve detail or plain sleeve. It features front welt pockets, neck, sleeve and hem ribbing, open […]

Basic colors

In my previous post, I talked about my plan to sew more solid neutral colors. I have many printed fabric in my wardrobe that can’t be worn together because they would clash. So a few plain tops and bottoms are in the sewing plan this year.   There’s where these two came into my plan. The top is Plantain T-shirt is a free PDF pattern by Deer & Doe, a French-based pattern company. “T-shirt fitted at the shoulders and flaring at the hips, with elbow patches. Short, long and 3/4 sleeves included in the pattern.” It is perfect for a basic […]

My first Style Arc pattern: Lola pants!

Scheduling the daily walk with the dogs became a bit complicated since Shiitake came along. He is young and bigger than Fuwawa, so he is not satisfied with the time Fuwawa needs for a walk. On the other hand, Fuwawa gets too tired if she has to follow Shiitake. I have thought about taking them separately but it would take too much time. Anyway that is why I haven’t posted anything sewing-related. I’ve finished a couple of things but never had time to take proper pictures of them. I usually take pictures in the morning while the sun is at its best, but […]
