Kielo wrap dress #2

In my previous post about my Kielo wrap dress, I mentioned that I wasn’t quite happy with my fabric choice. So here is my second Kielo wrap dress! The fabric is quite interesting, it is actually two separate layers of thin jersey connected together around each dots. Not much to say about alteration nor construction. The only difference that I made for this dress is finishing the armhole and necklines with knit band instead of bias binding. I’m quite happy with this version! Kielo wrap dress

  This is the second dress that I made from the fabrics that I bought in Indonesia. The beautiful print and color combination caught my eyes immediately. The price is also a bargain at about USD5/meter. The fabric is stretch polyester and quite slinky. I knew that I wanted to make a dress with it, preferably with as little seamlines as possible so the beautiful print wouldn’t be cut. Drape Drape dress no. 3

  When in Indonesia last month, I met up with a couple of my good friends. They are both fashion designers, so of course one of our destinaton was the fabric store! I had often visited fabric stores with them about 20 years ago when the three of us were in fashion school, so it was quite a nostalgic journey. A couple of months ago, I was approached by Bootstrap Fashion to try their custom-fit sewing patterns. Unlike with other pattern companies, you don’t have the option of choosing regular sizes when buying their patterns. Striped T-shirt

A quick sewing for my husband. This is Strathcona Henley pattern by Thread Theory in straight size M, made up in striped viscose knit. I omitted the sleeves and hem band as my husband doesn’t like them. Both hems are simply folded over and topstitched with zigzag stitches. I used to think that zigzag stitches screamed ‘homemade!’, but now I like it. Homemade (in love) is a good thing! T-shirt pattern is Strathcona Henley by Thread Theory, size M.

Long sleeve ruched dress

I really like the fabric that I used for my red dress that I also bought the same fabric in black and deep green. I used part of the black to make a pencil skirt, and this is the green one. The pattern is also from Burdastyle with my usual petite alteration. I really love the ruched detail on the side seam and the raglan sleeves. The original pattern also has ruched detail on the sleeves but my fabric is a bit thicker than ordinary jersey so I eliminated it. The pattern is only three pieces, front, back, and sleeves. Burdastyle stretch pencil skirt

  I always like high waisted pencil skirt and have made them several times. This high waisted denim skirt that I made a couple of years ago is particularly a favorite, but recently I have found that my waist is getting smaller. The wide band of the skirt has boning in it so the waistband sticks out around my waist in a strange way. Maybe I should have altered it but I decided to make a new skirt! Finlayson sweater

I made this shirt as a last minute gift for my husband several hours before our Christmas’ Eve dinner. So glad to have my trustable sewing machine and fabric stash! The pattern is Finlayson sweater by Thread Theory. I made variation 1 in size M. I really love how the squared neckline and the shawl collar have added such interesting details to an otherwise simple item. The fabric is double knit jersey in navy. Sports bra and leggings (and a birthday)

The knee-length yoga leggings that I made last July are one of the most-worn item that I’ve ever made. But since the weather got cold, I have gone back to wearing my old store-bought leggings.
