Elementary graduation suit: in progress

  Sidra is graduating from elementary school this week! It seemed that not a long time ago he was entering first grade. Time flies so fast. Selvedge men’s jeans – Full of Patterns 07

Sometime ago I posted that I wanted to make a pair of  selvedge jeans for my husband and have started making the muslin. It turned out that ‘sometime ago’ meant 8 months ago! Yikes. The good news is, the jeans are finally finished now! And actually it only took me two days to make them, just in time for my husband’s 44th birthday! Making a sports bra

I don’t usually do much sports but when I do, I wear a pair of Panache sports bra. This sports bra is quite wonderful. It is an encapsulated type, which means that each breast is supported individually. The bra is double layered so all the the seams are enclosed between the layers. Since I only have one pair of sports bra, this pair deteriorated rather quickly although I only wear it for a short time about twice a week. Makebra Petite #DL05: In progress

makeBra recently released a new downloadable pattern and I was quite excited about it. I’ve been wanting to try one of their patterns, but the sizes are too big for me. The newest pattern, makeBra #DL05 is drafted for smaller sizes, featuring foam lined two part cups and underwires. For me, the most interesting part is that the bridge and wing is the same pieces as the cup. You can see the pattern piece in the makeBra sewing tutorial here. Continuing the corset

My journey in corset making continues! I’ve taken in the corset seams and shaped the waist a bit to hopefully give it a more hourglass shape. And after postponing for sometime, I finally got the courage to cut into my precious broche coutil. The instruction is for single layer underbust, but I decided to use the technique from Corset Making e-book and made it double layered. Fortunately the Sew Curvy kit contained 0.5 m coutil fabric, which is exactly enough for a double layered underbust in my size. Corset in progress

I finally had a chance to start on my corset! I started by comparing the Laughing Moon Underbust corset pattern with the pattern from the Japanese corset book. The Japanese corset pattern is very simple with only four pieces: front, side front, side back, and center back; while the LM pattern has six pieces with four of them are side pieces. I think it means that the LM pattern has more room for body curves, so I decided to go with the Laughing Moon. Bombshell dress – cup alteration

This is the backside of my muslin. I have scoliosis and my curved spine can be seen clearly here. This might be the first time I ever photographed my backside deliberately.
