Jeans sew-along: Wearable muslin!

May 14, 2011menswear
P1200605-1

Coming late for the MPB Jeans Sew-Along, but I finally finished the first muslin for my husband’s jeans. The brushed cotton twill was only 1 m, so the muslin is cropped as I only need to check the fit around waist and hip area. The finished jeans will be full-length. The pattern is Men’s jeans from [...]

KCWC: Broken striped T-shirt

May 14, 2011kidswear
P1200512-1

Found a T-shirt in a thrift shop with similar pattern as my broken striped top but in black stripes. I refashioned into a T-shirt for Sidra. The original top is not very big, so I use black jersey from other T-shirt for the sleeves. The pattern is PDF pattern called Biscuit from Tamanegi Kobo, a [...]

KCWC 2011: Red jacket and silver T-shirt

May 12, 2011kidswear
P1200412-1

More KCWC 2011 projects! This red jacket is made with parachute fabric and black jersey. I found the parachute in the tiny fabric store near my house, it was very cheap and I still got more than 1 m left. The black jersey is recycled from adult T-shirt. The pattern is called Nectarine, bought as PDF [...]

KCWC 2011: Boy’s undies from recycled T-shirts

May 9, 2011kidswear
P1200365-1

It’s kids clothes week spring 2011! I’m starting it by refashioning Sidra’s T-shirts into undies. Those shirts are still in good condition but all of them have become too small now. It is something that you always encounter when you have kids. I copied one of Sidra’s undies to make the base pattern. Then I [...]

Golden Week 2011

One hour away from the busy city, walking up the mountain through the wood, there were ancient statues scattered around, we spread our picnic mat on top of the mountain and had the best lunch! Well, actually it was only some onigiri, but you know, anything taste better when eaten in a fine day.

A day in the mountain backpack tote

May 4, 2011bags and purses
P1200308-1

We went to the mountain today, but I didn’t wear my new top because it doesn’t match my new backpack! Actually I prefer carrying a tote bag than a backpack, simply because I never found any backpack style that I like. But I thought I would need my hands free for our walking in the [...]

Broken striped top and black shorts

May 3, 2011womenswear
5682561572_1a525d9988_m

These are the simple shorts that I made yesterday, along with an equally simple top. The waistband of the shorts is elasticized while the front waistband is kept flat, so there’s no need for fastener. The original pattern is for pants but I shortened it and added a row of black cotton lace on the hem. [...]

Giveaway: Seam Allowance Guide – CLOSED

May 2, 2011review/giveaway
P1200128

As someone who often uses Japanese pattern and draft my own pattern, the last step after drafting and tracing is something that I like the least: adding seam allowances. Sometimes I forget to add spaces between pattern pieces, so I had to tape new piece of paper or trace the whole pattern piece altogether, which [...]

Pencil pouch

April 30, 2011bags and purses
P1200101

My husband is a member of an internet community and they often arrange some exchange events. The recent one was a craft exchange, and my husband asked me to work together making something. Our match is a game lover, so my husband drew the mascot of the community, with portal gun on its hand, jumping [...]
