Here she goes again with the wriggling pet

Sorry if you don’t like our cute pet! It’s time to change the soil again for our Colombian Hercules larva. Today was such a shiny day, it was nice because the larva wouldn’t get exposed too long to the cold autumn weather. We keep the larva in a big plastic case filled with special soil that contains food for the larva. It would then eat the soil until the case is about half-full or less, and then we change the soil with new one. It’s the 4th soil change already, the last one was about 4 months ago. The larva hasn’t grow […]

2010 2010 = 40!

Today is my husband’s 40th birthday! Sidra and I had been thinking about a present for Papa, and he (sneakily) suggested that I should make a plush doll for Papa. Actually my husband likes plushies and other cute stuff, but he never bought one for himself because… , well, because he’s a grown man, I guess? So I think it’s time he has his own plush toy. I let Sidra choose a plushie pattern from Funky Friends Factory, but this time I went directly to the website to buy the PDF pattern. Sidra chose this Platypus pattern for Papa, it’s a […]

Burdastyle Book Project: finished (ugh, finally)

After days of postponing and slacking around, I’ve finally finished my blouse for Burdastyle Book! Actually I planned to work on it just after the Yokohama Artist Market, which was, errr, 3 weeks ago, but lots of things happened between then and now. Suddenly I found the need to make a couch cover, which by the way was something that I should have made months ago. Then I made a pair of shorts and dress for myself. My husband managed to give me a look of slight disapproval (on my procrastination, not on the clothes), but hey, I was just […]

Soil change for our larva!

Warning: wriggly thing pictures ahead! This morning, the three of us woke up in excitement  because today was the soil change day for our larva! It can only be done every 3-4 months, so this occasion is something that we are always waiting for. It has been almost a year since we bought the larva, and today is the third soil change. The larva is growing slower now, the size is just a little bit bigger than the last time (March 2010), but the body is  a lot firmer. It also moved a lot when I held it, and when […]

One shoulder dress

So I’ve said that I won’t make any floral for sometime, but it turned out that I still have 1.35 m of this floral fabric in my stash, so I made a one shoulder dress for myself. Initially it was cut for a ruffled collar dress, but then I got kinda bored of making it again.  I just made diagonal lines and cut one shoulder off. The ruffles is a wide strip of fabric, then an elastic is inserted inside the top line. I also use selvedges of fabric as hem and edge of the ruffles, no need to finish them! […]

Shop update and my progress on the Burdastyle Book project

I’ve just finished putting all my stuff in the shop! Please check it out and if you’re a petite, there might be something for you there! :: SHOP :: You see that stripes fabric on the picture? The colors remind me of peanut butter and strawberry jam! The fabric is shantung silk that Burdastyle sent me for the Burdastyle Book project. It’s a bit different from what I have in mind, but I think the texture and colours are very pretty. I’ve never worked with this kind of fabric, so I kinda feel excited and nervous at the same time. […]

Featured!

Hello! I just got interviewed by Sarah Von from yes and yes for her Real Life Style Icons series. You can check out the interview here where I answered her questions about my style. I don’t know about being an icon style though, everyday I still get confused over what to wear and usually end up by wearing the same item over and over again. While you’re at her blog, you should check out her other posts too. Her blog features all these wonderful series and stories about women and their lifestyle. It’s not a craft blog, fashion blog, beauty […]

Chie and Kayo!

These two beautiful ladies is Chie from VivatVeritas and Kayo from Crochetie, both of them are also Burdastyle members and both have etsy shops: Chie’s shop and Kayo’s shop. You should check them out because they make the cutest dresses and accessories! Anyway, I just met them today in Asakusabashi, it is another district in Tokyo with large selection of craft and bead stores. Some of the stores sell wholesale so the prices are quite cheap. We had lunch in an Indian restaurant before walking around the area. Then Kayo showed us several of her favorite shops there and at the end […]
